Positioning and Branding for Authors

TARGET YOUR READERS

As indicated in the presentation, I credit some key ideas on author branding to bestselling fantasy author Michael J. Sullivan, who has given his own presentations on that topic. Michael, in turn, drew upon a seminal TED talk by Simon Sinek, available on YouTube, titled “Start with Why.” My thoughts on author “positioning” lean upon ideas from the classic marketing book Positioning: The Battle for Your Mind, by Jack Trout and Al Ries.
