My latest piece, sure to be controversial, is now up on the PJ Media blog:
“10 Reasons You Should Skip the Traditional Publishers and Self-Publish Ebooks Instead“
Enjoy!
I just learned that the May issue of the Kindle Direct Publishing Newsletter features the story of how I achieved self-publishing success via Kindle ebooks.
Some time ago, the KDP folks solicited from me the details of my personal quest to write and publish HUNTER. I was happy to oblige by providing them with this piece, which is half-autobiography, half-testimonial.
I enthusiastically encourage all writers to check out the exciting self-publishing opportunities provided by Amazon’s KDP ebook division and their CreateSpace print-edition division. It has worked out wonderfully for me; but I believe that for any writer, self-publishing through Amazon offers unlimited potential while posing no downside risk.
I’ll be speaking and signing copies of HUNTER at the Gaithersburg (MD) Book Festival on Saturday, May 19, at 10:20 a.m. I hope to meet many of you who live within traveling distance. If you love books, I promise you that you’ll enjoy the entire day listening to and rubbing elbows with authors, as well as their fans. Details at the link
Here’s a great deal for thriller readers who want an introduction to the terrific work of my friend and #1 New York Times author Brad Thor:
For the rest of May 2012 only, the first novel in Brad’s best-selling “Scot Harvath” antiterrorism thriller series, THE LIONS OF LUCERNE, has had its ebook price slashed from $9.99 to just $3.99. And at that price, it is a steal.
You can download The Lions of Lucerne now for Kindle, or for Nook, or for iPhones/iPad.
If you want to know more about Brad and his work, check out my interview with him here on “The Vigilante Author.”
“The Thorum Underground” — a fan website devoted to the work of one of my heroes, best-selling thriller author Brad Thor — just launched a “Featured Author of the Month” page. I’m honored to report that for their inaugural author profile, they showcased me for May 2012.
Thank so much to the “Thunderground” team for this recognition, and to Brad Thor for generously providing a platform to give attention to fellow writers. Incidentally, I interviewed Brad some months ago on this blog; you can learn all about him and his gripping thrillers here. Enjoy!
I was interviewed on “American Entrepreneur Radio” by host Jerry Bowyer on May 3rd. Jerry and I discussed the opportunities and mechanics of self-publishing, as well as my background and why I wrote and indie-published HUNTER.
The interview runs about a half an hour and is archived online here. I hope you enjoy it.
I’ve just been invited to become a regular contributor to the popular online site “Pajamas Media.” This wonderful alternative media outlet provides a platform for some of the most prominent bloggers and cultural commentators of our time, including Glenn “Instapundit” Reynolds, Roger L. Simon, Ed Driscoll, Stephen “Vodkapundit” Green, and many more. It’s a great honor to participate in their company.
My “beat” will be the publishing world, especially the emerging world of self-publishing. And appropriately, my debut column, titled “A Self-Publishing ‘Rocky’ Story,” is the tale of my own path to becoming a successful “indie” author. I hope you check out my weekly columns in the PJ Media “Lifestyles” features section.
Here’s another inspiring, rags-to-riches, “Rocky”-type story of a struggling writer beating the odds by turning to self-publishing, then becoming an overnight success as a best-selling author.
This one appears in the Toronto Globe & Mail, and it’s about my new friend Martin Crosbie. There’s a lot here that I didn’t know about Martin’s earlier life and personal struggles–and the sudden smash success of his wonderful genre-bending novel of romantic suspense, My Temporary Life. Moreover, the piece is written by another indie author, Beverly Akerman, which only adds satisfying color to the profile.
If you’re a writer or a reader, you’ll be touched by this story.
